Project Brief
The Sanam Train Station project in Al-Ula is designed to serve as a crucial transportation hub, linking cities across Saudi Arabia while seamlessly blending with the historic Hijaz Railway, which become a museum. This station will not only facilitate smoother travel and enhance regional connectivity, but also promote cultural and historical exchange by integrating modern infrastructure with the rich heritage of Al-Ula. By boosting tourism and acting as a gateway to the region's ancient sites, such as Madain Saleh, the station will enhance cultural dialogue and contribute to Saudi Arabia's vision of a connected, culturally enriched future.
Why is it named ( SANAM )?
Naming a train station in Al-Ula "Sanam" reflects a deep connection to the region's nature and cultural heritage.Historically, camels were the primary mode of transport in the desert, linking the past with the present. Moreover, the name reinforces the region's tourism identity, symbolizing resilience and endurance. It also serves as an inspiration for artists and creatives, reflecting Al-Ula's rich ecological and cultural diversity.

Al-Ula Junction: Blending Heritage with Modernity in a Timeless Transit Hub
The Al-Ula Train Station design concept embodies a harmonious blend of modernity, heritage, and nature, drawing inspiration from the rugged mountains of Al-Ula. Envisioned as an integral part of the landscape, the station will seamlessly integrate with the historic Hejaz Railway station, celebrating the fusion of the old and the new while preserving historical significance. The design aims to evoke a sense of balance and unity, reflecting Al-Ula's rich cultural heritage while embracing contemporary architectural elements.
